Karen Goldstein is a general internist and health services researcher. She is a core investigator with the Center of Innovation to Accelerate Discovery and Practice Transformation where she serves as the Co-Director of the Evidence Synthesis Program (VA ESP) at the Durham VA Health Care System as well as the Co-Director of the VA Quality Scholars Program. Dr. Goldstein is also the Durham site lead for the VA Women's Health Practice Based Research Network (PBRN) and co-lead for the Women's Health Research Network strategic priority area on primary care and prevention for the Durham VA Health Care System. Dr. Goldstein is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine in General Internal Medicine at Duke University.
WHY VA?
I came to work for the VA in 2010 as a primary care clinician in the women’s health clinic and the general primary care clinic. It was an ideal position for me as I see caring for Veterans as a way to serve those who have served. I developed a passion for the women Veteran population in particular. While my career has evolved to be primarily research focused – my underlying goal is still to help improve the health of our Veterans – particularly women – so that they can live their best life.
