Dan Blalock, PhD

Dan Blalock is an Investigator at the Durham VA's HSR&D Center of Innovation to Advance Discovery and Practice Transformation (ADAPT), an Assistant Consulting Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the Duke University School of Medicine, and licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of North Carolina. Dr. Blalock's research focuses on the self-management of behavioral and mental health, especially related to issues of alcohol use and medication adherence. Dr. Blalock also examines the validity and utility of patient-reported outcomes measures (PROs) applied in a variety of settings.

Veterans are especially likely to deal with the behavioral and mental health issues I am interested in addressing, and especially vulnerable to the negative consequences of them. Additionally, as the largest integrated health system in the country, the VA is well-positioned to quickly implement research on these issues to provide an impact to real people as quickly as possible.
