Center for Health Services Research in Primary Care

Organizational Ties

The Center maintains closely linked organizational ties with VHA and the Durham VA Medical Center. We maintain academic affiliations for and research collaborations with Duke University in Durham and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH). We also pursue common research interests with other selected programs at the Durham VA and Duke University Medical Centers, including:

We have close collaborative interactions with the UNC-CH's School of Health, especially the Department of Health Policy and Administration and the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research.

In addition to conducting research, our Center staff and associates contribute time to teaching other health professionals clinical research methods in epidemiology, biostatistics, and data base management. For in-house staff and fellows, we provide the opportunity to become well versed in critical appraisal of the medical literature and to acquire a clearer understanding of the process of clinical research. Also, in collaboration with the VA's Office of Academic Affiliations, we provide training-site opportunities for pre-doctoral candidates, physician fellows, and post-doctoral fellows.
